Being raised in western New York I grew up loving the four seasons: ice season, then snow season, followed by mud season, then two months of summer, and then we did it all over again. But seriously, I spent more than my fair share of time getting stuck because of poor traction conditions.

Then in the late 1980s I started hunting in the mountains out west for elk and mule deer. This added new challenges to traction with sudden rain and snow storms in the mountains. I often carried tire chains but if I got stuck and didn't have them on the vehicle they are almost impossible to apply without jacking the vehicle up. What a hassle. I often heard my dad talk about traction aids that he had when he was younger. They consisted of two short chains a strap and buckle that you could apply through the hole in the wheel over the tire tread to help a vehicle out of a stuck situation. So I thought why not build a better mousetrap with an aggressive steel traction cleat, superior double polyester strap, and a strong ratchet to hold it all tight.

After considerable testing and improvements I was extremely happy that they could be  quickly applied even after you've gotten stuck. They can also be applied to the front of a four-wheel drive vehicle to pull it out of an off-camber situation. Then I added the Strap Retriever to assist getting the strap through smaller rim holes or for when the inside of the wheel gets packed with mud.

These traction aids also worked great when I had to tow trailers. It always seems that you leave a trailer in a good spot, but then the weather changes or your load sinks the trailer and end up not being able to move it.

Tire Teeth™  only take a few minutes to apply and can easily make the difference between moving the trailer now or having to make another trip or use a tow vehicle to get you going. I will never leave the pavement without Tire Teeth™ in my vehicle again!
